What is Amazon's Lens Live Image Search Function?

Amazon Lens Live takes the existing Amazon Lens visual search tool and upgrades it with real-time scanning. Instead of having to take a picture or upload an image, Lens Live works continuously through your camera to scan products, giving you instant results. From there, you can add items to your cart with one tap or save them to your wish list – without leaving the live camera view. Currently, millions of users already have access to Amazon’s Lens Live feature, and it’s set to roll out to all US users within the coming months.

How Does AI Enhance the Amazon Lens Live Feature?

Lens Live is powered by Amazon’s Rufus AI assistant to help answer shoppers’ questions and provide deeper insights into listings aside from what may already be available within the product pages.  

On the tech side, Lens Live uses AWS-managed services like Amazon OpenSearch and SageMaker, along with lightweight computer vision models running directly on your device, to recognize products instantly and surface the most relevant search results.

Using Amazon's Lens Live Feature to Find Similar Products:

Imagine you’re at a party, and you see an air fryer that you absolutely need. Rather than asking the host where they got it from, simply use Amazon’s Lens Live feature to find it or see similar products!

To use Amazon’s Lens Live feature, first open the Amazon shopping app. Instead of typing into the search bar, click on the camera icon to the right. From here, point your phone’s camera at the item you’re interested in finding, and see search results directly within the Lens Live page, and add to your cart.
