Amazon Announces New Updates to Small & Light Program Eligibility: October 2021

Amazon Marketplace

Amazon announced their updates to eligibility for the Small & Light program on November 1, 2021.

Small & Light Program Eligibility

On November 1, Amazon announced that there were important updates to eligibility for the Small & Light Program. As of October 29, there were two new changes:

  • Amazon will no longer be requiring a minimum number of sales for ASINs to be eligible. The means you can enter more products into the program, as the requirements have actually loosened, allowing more ASINs to qualify, and therefore more sellers – large or small, to participate in the program.
  • Along with that, Amazon is no longer requiring a minimum number of units per ASIN per shipment. This means sellers have more flexibility when it comes to sending in shipments for the Small & Light program.

These updates may allow you to participate in in the Small & Light program, which depending on your unique business, could improve your profit margins. The program essentially allows sellers who carry eligible ASINs to pay a smaller fee compared to the standard Amazon fee. Here is a chart from the help page that breaks down the cost:

Enroll your products here. ASINs that measure 18 x 14 x 8 inches or less, weigh 12 oz or less, and are priced at $7 are eligible for the Small & Light Program. (You must also agree to the FBA Small and Light Terms and Conditions).

Receiving discounted fees when selling on Amazon can only be a positive thing, especially as costs continue to rise over time. To improve your profit margins while selling on Amazon, we recommend taking advantage of this program, if you’re able to.
