Why Enroll in Amazon's Ships in Product Packaging (SIPP) Program?

The SIPP program allows sellers to opt-out of having their products shipped inside of the classic Amazon Prime box. This allows brands to exclusively showcase their own branding (without Amazon’s branding). Enrolling your products can also result in discounts on your FBA fees, and moreover, it’s more environmentally sustainable!

How Does Amazon’s Ships in Product Packaging (SIPP) Program Work?

There are two product packaging classifications when enrolling in the SIPP programflexible and rigid. Here are the definitions according to Amazon:

  • Flexible: Flexible SIPP products are packaged with flexible exterior such as plastic or paper bags, and rigid or padded mailers that are sealed and the packaging material is at least 2 millimeters (0.08 inches) thick.
  • Rigid: Rigid SIPP products are items shipped in rigid, six-sided packaging such as boxes.

Flexible packaging is generally for “soft” goods, such as clothing and other fabric items that can be shipped in bags. Rigid packaging involves an actual cardboard box and is often used for more breakable and fragile items such as home decor, appliances or furniture.

Enrolling in Amazon's Ships in Product Packaging (SIPP) Program:

FBA sellers can enroll in the SIPP program by first visiting the Ships in Product Packaging page and checking the ASIN availability (up to 100 ASINs per search). Enroll eligible ASINs by clicking “Next: add details to enroll”.

Sellers must either perform a self-drop test (option only available for non-fragile and non-liquid products weighing less than 50 lbs.) or submit an ISTA 6 Lab test, proving that the product packaging can withstand shipment conditions and arrive in perfect condition to the customer. Once enrolled, get insight into your fees saved per unit under the “Enrolled Products” tab.
